South Africa fast bowler Junior Dala is set to miss the upcoming Sri Lanka tour due to Covid-19 protocols of hosts Sri Lanka. Junior Dala was tested positive for Covid-19 recently along with bowling coach Charl Langeveldt at a national training camp. According to the Sri Lanka government’s Covid-19 protocols, nobody may enter the country within 21 days of testing positive for Covid. As a result, both Junior Dala and Charl Langeveldt will not be able to travel to Sri Lanka.
The South Africa tour of Sri Lanka consists of 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The ODI series will commence on September 2 with the first ODI scheduled to be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The 2nd and 3rd ODI will be played at the same venue on September 4 and 7 respectively.
Post that, the T20I series will begin with the first game on September 10. It will be followed by the 2nd and 3rd T20I on September 12 and 14 respectively. All the T20I games will also be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Lutho Sipamla Replaces Junior Dala In South Africa Squad
Pacer Lutho Sipamla has replaced Junior Dala in the South Africa squad. Morever, Titans coach Mandla Mashimbyi will replace bowling coach Charl Langeveldt. 23-year-old Lutho Sipamla has played 2 Test matches, 5 ODIs, and 9 T20I games for South Africa so far.
The right-arm pacer has scalped 10 wickets in Tests, 2 in ODIs and 5 in T20Is. He was overlooked for South Africa’s previous tours to West Indies and Ireland. The Proteas team will be led by Temba Bavuma.
