Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan heaped praise over Rajasthan Royals youngster Kartik Tyagi for his stupendous performance against Punjab Kings. Tyagi, who had conceded 28 runs in his first three overs, gave just one run in the final over of the game to defend the target for Rajasthan Royals as Punjab required just four runs off six balls to win the game.
It is not easy for anyone to defend four runs: Kartik Tyagi
The 20-year-old Uttar Pradesh bowler picked the wickets of Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda to help the Royals turn the match by two runs.
Irfan Pathan pointed out that Kartik was bowling against some greatest international players without any kind of experience. Pathan feels this achievement will be a huge confidence booster for the young bowler.
“Kartik Tyagi is a youngster, he is not an experienced player. He is a young uncapped Indian fast bowler and he comes and bowls like this, it is not easy for anyone to defend four runs,” Pathan told Star Sports.
“There were good batsmen in front of him, it was not that a No.9, 10 or 11 batsman was batting, pure batsmen were playing. The Punjab Kings did make mistakes but the good areas in which Kartik Tyagi bowled will be a huge confidence booster in this boy’s career,” he added.
Kartik Tyagi has come here after playing good cricket: Irfan Pathan
Kartik was part of India’s previous edition of the Under-19 World Cup where the bowler picked 11 wickets from six matches before bagging an IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 auctions.
“He has come here after playing good cricket. He has represented India in under-19 cricket. There he took wickets for India and after that when he got an opportunity in the IPL, he didn’t play in the first half but to perform under pressure,” Pathan said.
Rajasthan Royals regained the fifth spot after winning their fourth match in the tournament and will face Delhi Capitals on September 25 in Abu Dhabi.
