IPL 2021: Dinesh Karthik Reveals That KKR Paid For His Excess Baggage As He Arrived From England

Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik revealed that his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders were gracious enough to pay for excess baggage as he traveled from the United Kingdom to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the second phase of the IPL 2021.

Karthik was on commentary duties for Sky Sports in the UK, where England and India were engaged in a five-Test series which is stuck with India leading 2-1 and the fifth Test was canceled due to COVID concerns in the Indian camp. ECB wants the Test forfeited, while the BCCI has offered to play the Test when the next visit for a white-ball series is in 2022.

Karthik made his commentary debut before the England-India Test series, as his voice was first heard on the mic during the World Test Championship final between New Zealand in India in June. He made fans and impressed the veteran commentators with his humor and spot-on analysis. His attire during the tournament was also appreciated by all.

KKR Was Kind Enough To Pay For The Excess Baggage, So It Was Good: Dinesh Karthik   

During his maiden commentary stint in England, the dashing batsman sported numerous attire, giving fashion goals to fans. Karthik’s fellow commentator and former England captain Michael Atherton stated that the Tamil Nadu native had traveled with 17 suitcases to the UK.

The 36-year-old former KKR captain revealed that though the number of baggage was exaggerated, the original count was pretty significant. In a conversation, Karthik also mentioned that his IPL franchise, the Kolkata Knight Riders were the ones who paid for the excess baggage as he flew straight from the UK to UAE for IPL 2021.

“KKR was kind enough to pay for the excess baggage, so it was good (smiles, on being asked how he carried all his suitcases back from England). It was a great trip to come here and I am really enjoying being amongst the boys,” Karthik told Star Sports ahead of KKR’s game against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi.

Well KKR got off to a brilliant start in the second half of the IPL 2021, as they decimated Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore side, winning by 9 wickets and 10 overs to spare after bowling them out for 92 runs.
